Services for Off-Campus Library Members
OneSearch shows all of the library’s collections. Enter your search, then look on the left for Refine My Results: check the box under Availability for “Full Text Online.” This will show:
- Full-text journals, magazines, and newspapers
- Streaming films/video
This list shows all databases, A-Z. To sort them by subject, change “All Subjects” to your choice.

Articles and Book Chapters from Hollins – Special Service Summer 2020
If you need an article or chapter from an item in our library, please use this scanning request form to request the materials be digitized and sent to you, at no charge. Note that staff and time may be limited – please plan ahead.
Daily request volume may result in limits on:
- delivery speed
- number of requests per person
- number of pages per request
Articles and Book Chapters not at Hollins
Articles and book chapters from other libraries can be requested from our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services, at no charge. If available, these will be digitized. Items may take 2-4 weeks to obtain, so plan your research early.
Your local public library can borrow books from Hollins, from Roanoke College and many other libraries using Interlibrary Loan service; this is a fast, efficient and low-cost way to get the books you need.
Request Books by Mail
Note: “Request by Mail” is only available July 31 – May 31. Please scroll up to “Articles & Book Chapters” to see request options for digital portions.
If local Interlibrary Loan is not available to you, we can mail books from the Hollins and Roanoke collections to your home. You will only be responsible for the cost of return postage to the library.
To have our books mailed to you:
- Fill out the online request form*, AND
- Send an email with your mailing address and contact information to the ILL Office, or call (540) 362-6239.
*The online request form is the same Interlibrary loan form as is used for on-campus requests. In your email to us, please clarify that you are an off-campus student, requesting the mailing of on-campus materials.

Using Other Academic Libraries
