Policies for Reserve Items

The Reserve Collection contains books and films temporarily placed on reserve for students’ use. Loan periods are established in cooperation with the professor and are designed to accommodate high demand:

  • 3 hours
  • 24 hours
  • 1 day (technology equipment use only)
  • 3 days

Three-hour reserve items may be checked out overnight 3 hours before closing. All overnight items are due back one hour after opening the following day.

At the Circulation desk you will need to know the following information depending on the type of reserve: Call Number or Professor Copy Number. Be sure to check the status of the item (is it available, or is the item checked out?). You may check out two items at a time. A label on the item will indicate:

  • The loan period
  • The due date and time
  • In library use only material

For Professors, Lecturers, & Instructors

Please use the Reserve Request Form to place books or media on reserve.

For more information about putting items on reserve, please contact our Circulation Coordinator, Jessi Hood, at (540) 362-6090 or hoodja@hollins.edu.

All items placed on reserve must be owned by either Wyndham Robertson Library, Roanoke College’s Fintel Library, or the course instructor. No items obtained through Interlibrary Loan can be placed on Reserves.

E-Reserves

E-reserve services are no longer handled by the library. Faculty should upload their documents using Moodle. If you need assistance using Moodle, check the online guides on the my.hollins Faculty tab under “Classroom Technology”; or contact Brad Oechslin at (540) 362-6392 or boechslin@hollins.edu.
