Martyr! is bestselling author Kaveh Akbar’s debut novel; Akbar is also an award-winning poet whose writing appears in the New Yorker, the New York Times, Paris Review, New Republic, GQ, The Atlantic, Best American Poetry, Best American Sportswriting, and elsewhere. Born in Tehran, Iran, Kaveh is the Roy J. Carver Professor of English at the University of Iowa. His work has been translated into over thirty languages.

About the book club: our goal is to explore dialogue across differences, and related issues. You are welcome to bring your brown bag lunch, and any interested colleagues. We’ll supply coffee and dessert.
