Join us for a screening of Black Art: in the Absence of Light, a New York Times  critics’ pick documentary film made by HBO in 2021.

About the film: featuring a Who’s Who of contemporary Black artists, the film focuses on the history and long-lasting impact of an exhibition titled “Two Centuries of Black American Art” which was curated by African American artist and scholar David Driskell at LACMA in 1976. Through Driskell’s vision and the voices of other curators, scholars, and artists, Black Art: in the Absence of Light explores the story of Black art from the 19th century into the modern day.
