Thinning the Line: Translation, Transliteration, and Multilingual Texts
During this interactive session, we will examine the function of translation, transliteration, and multilingualism in writing. How does blending languages invite, clarify, and obscure meaning—and for whom? What can we learn about the translatability of language from reading these types of texts and from writing our own blended forms?
This session will include low-stakes writing exercises to invigorate our own practice. You do not need to be fluent in a second language to join, though any knowledge you share will enrich our conversation. This workshop is for current students only!
