Toni Jensen workshop & reading, Oct. 29

Join us for these events on Thursday, October 29!

Writing workshop:
10:30 am – 12:00 pm in the CLE classroom, open to all Hollins students.
Come work with author Toni Jensen on how writers can use nature, art, and music to prompt our writing as a counterbalance to difficulty. Come prepared to write!
Reading, signing, and reception:
7:30 – 8:30 pm in the Hollins Room, open to the public.

Come join us for a reading by author Toni Jensen. Jensen’s Carry is a memoir-in-essays about gun violence, land and Indigenous women’s lives (Ballantine 2020) and was a Dayton Literary Peace Prize Finalist and a New York Times Editors’ Choice Book.  An NEA Creative Writing Fellowship recipient in 2020, Jensen’s essays have appeared in Orion, Catapult and Ecotone.  She is also the author of the story collection From the Hilltop. She directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing and Translation at the University of Arkansas and teaches in the low residency MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. She is Métis.

These events are supported by the Beanstalk Fund, a collaboration of the Department of English and Creative Writing and the Wyndham Robertson Library to bring readers and writers together at Hollins.
